My morning view of La Cordillera. Buenos días, Santiago!

My Bedroom
My Bedroom
At long last - I wake up to my own room. I finally have a home!
Nino
Niño
I'm greeted by Niño, a jumpy and ultra-curious cat that's always getting tangled up in something.
Breakfast
Breakfast
Start the day with a typical chilean concoction...creamed avocados and lemon juice on toasted bread.
The Living Room
The Living Room
The multi-purpose center of operations in the apartment. We eat, rest, and host guests here.
Micro Musician
Micro Musician
Time to head for work! I hop a bus (a.k.a. a "micro") to Santiago Centro. Micro passengers are often serenaded by musicians or vendors hawking random items.
Out the Back Window
Out the Back Window
A peek out from the micro's back window as it barrels down the street.
In All Their Glory
In All Their Glory
What micros look like from the outside. Undisputed rulers of the road, these bright yellow tanks battle each other for passengers. Pedestrians and cyclists beware!
Empanadas & Sopaipillas
┬┐Tienes hambre?
To reach the office, I have to pass an obstacle course of vendors of empanadas (meat or cheese filled pastries) and sopaipillas (deep-fried pumpkin bread that you slather with tomatoes and mustard). I'm a frequent customer of this guy.
Pio Nono
Pio Nono
Bellavista's main drag. It's lined with easygoing restaurants and cafes by day, and racous discotecas by night.
Ciudad Viva
Ciudad Viva
My office is on the bottom floor of an old converted house.
Donatella
Donatella
The Uruguayan Executive Director of Ciudad Viva. Always superbusy, and constantly drinking her Yerba Mate.
